At Eden-Well, we don’t just envision a better future—we actively work towards creating it. These values aren’t only what we teach; they are built into how we build. Every capstone project and every artifact our participants create in our workshops and bootcamps is shaped by these principles from the very first prompt, so that our values become part of the technology itself, not an afterthought.

Safety
Innovation, for us, is not just about progress but about responsible progress. We help young people build AI systems that improve efficiency while protecting the well-being of people and the planet. That means teaching them, from day one, to design guardrails into what they create—safeguards that keep a system from being misused or turned against the very people it was meant to serve. We also teach a humbler and harder lesson: that you can rarely specify in advance every way a system might behave, so responsible builders anticipate misuse, write their intentions down explicitly, and test their creations against those intentions rather than assuming good behaviour will simply emerge.

Inclusivity
Inclusivity, for us, is about people first, and technology second. We intentionally bring together youth from every background—local Swiss students and newcomers alike, including migrants, refugees, and young people from underrepresented communities. The truth is that almost all young people are locked out of high-tech circles by default: without someone to open the door, a curious teenager in Switzerland is just as excluded from building real AI as anyone else. Eden-Well is that open door. Through our educational programs, we then equip these young people with the knowledge and skills to create AI technologies that are themselves inclusive and equitable. Giving young people access to high-level tools is a democratic act: it ensures the digital public square is shaped by a generation that reflects the whole of society.

Efficiency
Efficiency, for us, means removing the barriers that used to stand between an idea and a working product—lack of money, time, or technical knowledge. Not long ago, launching a website or a digital service meant paying thousands of francs to a professional. Today, with the right AI tools and the right support, anyone can become a builder. We democratize access to the tools, the knowledge, the skills, and the opportunities, so that a young person’s most valuable asset is no longer their coding speed but their human perspective and their idea. Our learning environments foster curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving, preparing future leaders to make efficient and meaningful contributions to society.

Sustainability
Our creative process emphasizes sustainable practices, mindful resource use, and honest reflection on the ethical implications of technology. We don’t pretend AI is free of cost: training and running these models consumes real energy, and we take that criticism seriously rather than waving it away. One very tangible way we act on it is by teaching young people to choose the right model and the right tool for each task—because a heavyweight model can consume many times more energy than a lighter one that would have done the job just as well. Using less where less is enough, and reserving powerful models for problems that truly need them, is a habit we build early. In this way, being critical of the “AI rush” and being an active AI builder are not opposites—the most responsible builders are precisely the ones who question the cost of what they make.
